"Good views and location. Nice homes. People are nice. Proximity to downtown and the capital. Green spaces and trail access"
  • Trulia User
"it's a great neighborhood, if you're able to pay the prices. People mostly keep to themselves. There's a Harmon's in walking distance, but bewary of the guy who drives through the neighborhood at 3 AM with a noisy muffler. "
  • Trulia User
"it's a very safe neighborhood. you'll feel good about letting your kids play in the area and a lot of things are close by. people are friendly too. "
  • Jennifer H.
"I just moved here but it's so quiet and peaceful. It's a great place to walk dogs and everyone cleans up after their animals"
  • Andrew W.
"Easy! Everyone is coming to downtown and it takes 15 min to get into north salt lake. It takes about 10-15 mins for my wife to walk downtown past all the city commuters. "
  • Andrew W.
"It’s right next to the Capitol making it such a cool area to enjoy the neighborhood and tourist destination. "
  • Aps55304
"Nice elementary school nearby. Warm springs park is a good place to take the dog. Marmalade neighborhood is poised for rapid growth and revitalization."
  • Aps55304
"There are lot of dogs in the neighborhood. There are a couple of fog parks as well. All kinds of dogs. Lots of Labradoodles."
  • Angela C.
"The handle bar is across the street is always lively. I like listening to their music from my window. "
  • Sky
"Every Monday night the neighbors meet on the square. Public movies at the Capitol in the summer. Dog park is down the hill. Hiking and biking up the hill. "
  • Aps55304
"Super easy. A short drive to W 2200 near the airport. Traffic is light early. Track is also an option."
  • Milot F.
"There are lots of dogs in the area, with Memory Grove Park right near by. This park has an off leash dog trail that attracts lots of visitors."
  • thanksheather
"I love this area and the fact that you can walk to ust about anything and still be in the middle of the arts area. So many things to do within a 10 minute walk. I love living here."
  • DaleWalkerRN
"This is a great, mostly quiet area to live in, convenient to almost anything/anywhere! Beautiful historic buildings surround you: Utah State Capitol @ top of hill, LDS Church Temple / Headquarters @ bottom of hill with several tower condominiums having stunning views of the mountains and the valley below. Walking distance to the "New Downtown" with tons of restaurants, shopping to satisfy anyone, tons of culture and entertainment within a 6 block walk! Directly ON US-89 with many main thoroughfare surface street routes, and less than 5 minutes to I-15 AND I-80 for commuters, Only 15 minutes to SLC International Airport - cheaper to take a cab than to drive & park! Many parks, historic sites, cultural opportunities nearby. TRAX train and city bus line just a few minutes walk away, Amtrak station 5 minutes away. A dozen great Ski Resorts within a 45-minute drive. This neighborhood started in the 1800's as single-dwelling residences with many children, but has evolved over time to include many condominium projects that are primarily for couples & singles. Young families are beginning to make a comeback however. Ensign Peak is a couple of miles to the north, UP the mountain and is one of my favorite spots with stunning views of the entire south and western valley and the Great Salt Lake / Antelope Island. (You will WORK for that view however, as the climb is significant, but doable with a rest stop or two along the way.) The DOWNSIDE is the steep terrain on all 4 sides of Capitol Hill (think San Francisco on steroids!) The hill is NOT gentle and sloping, it is a MOUNTAIN and is steep. It is "hikeable" and is only 2-3 blocks to the level of the State Capitol, then returns to a mountainside again. A great place to visit and a wonderful place to live, with most housing very reasonably priced compared to the suburbs of Salt Lake City. The Downtown is being rebuilt and bringing several thousand new residents - Capitol Hill is convenient, but away from all the noise!"
