This school has a big gap in what it offers when compared to the other middle schools in the district. Little choice of optional classes, no honors / advanced math placement. The district pretends its all the same, and good luck to the family if the kid is placed there.

Ralston Middle School is the most racist educational institution that we’ve experienced. Many students spew hate speech and racial slurs but are never corrected. The administration - all the way up to the school board- is complicit. This school is emotionally, psychologically and physically unsafe for black and brown children. That’s such a shame. The city needs to investigate immediately.

I have recently had three kids graduate in 2024 and 2023.Some teachers are simply exceptional, while others are lacking strategies for teaching.So it can be a mixed bag depending on the teacher you get.The chemistry class was basically videos and minimal learning. The physics class my kids had was excellent. Same for the stats class, excellent. If your child plays an instrument, this is a great place for them to hone their skills. However, I was disappointed in English requirements for my kids.Two out of three of my kids went on to public colleges in California. The physics and stats they learned were excellent fundamentals for their college courses.Overall, I would give Carlmont 3.9 score out of 5.Parents need to be involved, it easy for kids to get lost in high school.
