As an asian parent of 2 Gunn graduates, I have mixed feelings about this Highschool. I think all the kids due to family background try very hard to achieve success academically. In that sense, I think the scores you see are more of reflection on the parent/peer pressure rather than anything magical teaching done by the school. During my interactions with the teachers, like other schools, there are some good teachers, but some bad ones as well. I would only recommend this school if your kids have an easy time learning and want to be challenged academically. For typical kids, they will feel like they are going as hard as they can just to be 'average' - which is not a great feeling for 4 years of hard work.

Excellent Principal, great teachers in our experience so far.

I'm shocked that this school has a 10/10 score. I can't say enough how it seems to be that JLS prides itself on it's ability to avoid giving necessary and reasonable accommodations to students who need them. The important lesson that my children have learned from this school is that even if it's someone's job to help you, sometimes they still won't, and it might not be fair....but you need to do well anyway.
