"I work a few miles out of town but it’s pretty easy to get out of my town and on the main roads. Sometimes the lights get backed up during rush hour but not that bad. "
  • Mretamar549
"Some people like to walk their dogs without a leash. Pretty annoying. Then they wonder why their dog doesn’t listen. "
  • Brooke_newhard
"We have food truck days and live bands every weekend in the summer. We have a community pool which the community fundraiser for the upkeep of the pool. Everyone knows everyone"
  • Brooke_newhard
"I have lived here, my whole life And I feel safe here. It’s a small town and we all watch out for each other. "
  • Trulia User
"We have so many beautiful walking trails that run along the river & along the canals. Most are nice flat trails great for walks or runs with your dog. For those with dogs who love playing fetch, tromping through the water, or for those more extreme we have some great hiking trails on the mountain. This is the perfect place for dog owners. The people in the neighborhood seem to be pleasant & nice with dogs & there owners, as long as you clean up after them. "
  • Alicia S.
"There’s no much to do here. But the Neffs Ucc church throws nice events at the church. They throw potlucks and concerts special craft fairs."
  • Belinda H.
"Great place to raise children and give them great country atmosphere. Safe place for children to run freely. Schools are the best around."
  • user
"All commuting must be done by car. But traffic is not bad, because there is access to many back roads."
  • stt
"Dogs should definitely be leashed, too many predators for smaller dogs, deer, Fox, hawks, turkey vultures, badgers, etc"
  • Rick B.
"Quiet side streets. beautiful architecture. 30 minutes to Allentown in the south and Jim Thorpe to the north. 10 minutes to Palmerton."
  • Candice G.

  • Diana S.

"Nice quiet neighborhood, nearby trails for walking, jogging or hiking. Great public and private schools within walking distance. Public transportation within two blocks. Public library and community center for all ages certainly a plus. Friendly neighborhood. Many churches within walking distance. Local pubs and restaurants with great food. "

"This is a wonderful area, great for raising Familes!!!! Great school district, and close to shopping!"
  • Bill
"I grew up in Emmaus in the 1970's and always loved the small town community feel. After years of living in Allentown, Lower Macungie and Bethlehem, I got tired of the "city" feel. When looking for a house, I did my homework and knew the Slatington/Palmerton area was for me. I bought my house in Slatington and I am LOVING the area! I walk a lot, so the walkability was important. This area has it! Lots to see! Great history! Unlike Allentown and Bethlehem, I feel VERY safe in this area. If you are a younger, 20-something, you may want to pass. There isn't any "nightlife," meaning clubs, but there are a few great bars to frequent. All in all, it's a great area that has a true community feel to it. I'm loving the area and am VERY happy I bought my house here!"
