"Colchester offers a nice, country-living feel with well-established families. It’s central location makes for an easy commute to New London, Norwich and Hartford, and also weekend attractions like the coastal shore, vineyards and more touristy towns like Mystic, Stonington and Westbrook. Great place for families and pets!"
  • Rachael M.
"Friendly and kind. People are always around to help and neighbors are great. Only complaint is that there isn’t enough variety of restaurants here. Some small owned bistros and Chinese and pizza. That’s pretty much it though besides subway, McDonald. And Wendy’s which I don’t go to anyway. "
  • Laura S.
"We have the 57 Fest every September with food, music, inflatables and fireworks. Farmer's market every Sunday April-October. Tag Sale on the Green in June. Weekly and dailyvevents at the Library . Great schools and parks. Airline trail for biking and walking. Day pond for beach and swimming. So much more too!!"
  • Christina S.
"Dog owners are always out walking or jogging with their dogs. Our town has a very nice dog park. Our town also has pooch gatherings on the town green especially the one where owners dress up their fur babies for Halloween called pumpkins & pooches. I’d like to see people pick up after their dogs more when they’re walking down the street. I’ve driven by pet owners while their dog is going #2 and watch the person walk away without picking it up with a poop bag. They should bring doggie doo doo bags to clean that up and put it in a trash dumpster. "
  • Lori D.
"My neighborhood is filled with kind people, friendly adults and fun loving children! A wonderful place to raise a family!"
  • Christina S.
"There’s a super nice dog park here, and people here are also very family oriented and there are really good schools as well. "
  • Lori D.
"My neighborhood is welcoming, safe and beautiful! There is great pride, excellent schools, kind folks and tasty food choices."
  • Susan.crabb44
"Many wonderful events on the town green all year round. Very good school system. Has the small town feeling but is conveniently located and easy to commute to Hartford or New London. This town also has many very good restaurants. "
  • Sara N.
"A haul. The trade off of a quiet neighborhood is a long and inconvenient drive to work. Route 2 is the only way to get anywhere and if it gets backed up it can cause major delays. To get to work on time I have to leave very early. "
  • Chris
"Sports and parks kids programs through Colchester parks and recreation. Many great restaurants and even a Irish pub that’s pretty good. "
  • Melissa O.
"The school system here sucks. The elementary is the worst. Principal awards the bad kids and the good ones are ignored. Horrible education levels as well. They don’t even give homework because they feel it’s to demanding on the kids."
  • Sylvia B.
"Never see dogs. Being walked and no street lights. Traffic is terrible on my road with people always doing over the speed limit "
  • nichole c
"the area has a great parks and is very comfortable to safely walk around with dogs and or kids. great town events through the year to keep it all going!"
  • Christina
"This is a quiet friendly safe town, filled with caring families who take pride in our town. They help each other out when you need them. I would totally recommend living here. I’ve been here 8 years so far! "
  • Sophia M.
"Friendly cozy area. Very safe. Upkept. Quiet and convenient to highways and major routes. Close to grocery store and central to most of CT"
  • Nichole C.
"ive lived here all my life. great place for families, you can be social or not, and go from there. plenty of restaurants and ice cream places and things to do."
  • Maryclarksawyer
"Festivals on the Green are reliably a part of life in Colchester. Our town is becoming a great place to go out to dinner, with a couple of new restaurants providing exciting farm-to-table fare, not to mention quite a few farms where you can grab your own produce, cheese, or meat for your own table!"
  • Leann
"Great school system and parks/ rec department. A lot of family friendly events on the town green. Movies. Stores. Starbucks "
  • a g.
"I’ve lived in this neighborhood all my life I love the area so I moved in next door to the house I grew up in. I know my neighbors across from and next to me by their first name and we all help watch out for each other. It’s a great place to have grown up and I can’t wait to raise my family here!"
  • Nichole C.
"cars!! be careful of speeding vehicles, even in slower areas just watch out because anything can happen"
  • Leann
"Its family and senior friendly... center of town is great, lots of restaurants, drugstores, Starbucks etc"
