About this House

Featured in "If these walls could talk" book as the "Mendosa Mansion" aka locally as the "Azevedo House" (as the Mendosa daughter married into Azevedo family and inherited the home). This well known house sold in 2009 and has been lovingly restored. Features include: central heat and a/c, original beveled, lead glass built-ins and pocket doors framed with mahogany. In addition, the original mahogany moldings have been refinished and maintained original throughout the home. Upon entering the front door, the grand staircase with balcony is a mini version of the Titanic. Hardwoods have also been restored throughout. Atrium with south facing, large windows and skylight to warm the home during the winter. Well placed trees shade the southern portion of the home in summer months. Large living room with 5 foot tall fireplace with italian marble and family crest. Adjacent to the living room is a full bar. One downstairs bedroom with full bath. Downstairs half bath renovated to original and sink restored. Back porch also with original sink and spiral staircase leading to another upstairs sun porch with views of the Buttes and spectacular sunrises. Large laundry room upstairs with closet (could be converted to a bedroom if desired). There is a barn with an adjacent one acre lot potentially for sale. Two large pastures in place for horses. Small fenced in area adjacent to the barn as well. The 3-car detached garage has been renovated back to original including new roof with new addition of skylights. The garage includes an apartment which was the "grounds keepers' quarters" originally. This one bedroom and full bath are presently being finished to include a claw foot tub. Security system is in place. The home is located 45 minutes north of Sacramento Airport, within a 1 hour drive of Sacramento; 2 hour drive to San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Mt. Shasta, etc. It is 3 hours east of Fort Bragg. The charming town of Colusa is well known for hunting, fishing, bird watching, as well as all water sports on the Sacramento River. "Always keep an eye on your children in general. But this is a pretty great neighborhood. Sometimes cars can go fast than they are supposed to! "
  • Julie T.
"there's River access lotz of parks go burger place its very quiet peacefully............................."
  • Daniela G.
"What makes this neighborhood unique is that during Christmas the fire trucks come to the every home with Santa passing out candy canes. I never lived anywhere with such humanity. Colusa is a great little town. Not too far and not to close from everything. "
  • Shaunpresley
"Colusa is quiet, that's hard to come by these days. I'm within walking distance of a river front park and can enjoy it any time I want"
  • pam d.
"I live and work in Colusa. I moved here almost one year ago. It is a lovely small town. Central houses can walk in minutes to hardware, grocery, coffee/bakery, restaurants (pub/bar, Mexican, pizza, American breakfast & lunch), library, drug store, florist, paint store, and several others. There are a number of parks with equipment for children. It is a very green place and maintaining trees is important to the town. Community members are generally very involved. There are a number of town fairs and festivals throughout the year. It is 1 hour from Sacramento. The nearest city with the "big box" stores is 25 minutes away."
  • pam d.
"I moved to Colusa 5 months ago. Most residents grew up here or moved here to raise families. Living near Market Street, one can walk to most businesses: supermarket, hardware, drug store, restaurants, florist, convenience store. There are a number of small parks and playgrounds for children. The community sponsors frequent events such as fairs, feasts, and festivals. There is very little traffic, even with highway 20 running through the town. It is a very pleasant place to live."
