I have 3 students at Loring and cannot say enough about the administration, faculty & staff. Since the last review was written, there have been much needed staffing changes, including a wonderful Principal and Assistant Principal who have made Loring a truly special place.My children do not have special needs, but have been in several inclusion classrooms over the years. The school and district do an amazing job to respond to the need of the individual student. There is grace for the behavior of children still learning how to behave in school, but a pervasive attitude of inclusivity and very strong socio-emotional supports. One of my children has a class where 2-3 students would be bullied at any other school. In this school they had 3x the SEO and guidance support and the classroom became a wonderfully supportive environment. It’s the only time I had a child insist on inviting the whole class to her birthday party (“Its fine if they don’t come and they probably won’t but I wouldn’t want a classmate to feel left out!”). This from my most self-centered child. The PTO is wonderful and Loring is probably the most diverse elementary in Sudbury both racially and economically. We have many ESL students. Go loring!

I've had one child complete all three years at Curtis. It started out pretty good with teachers doing well, actually liking their job. The counselor we had all three years, got too involved in our family. This person, cornered my son for what he disagreed on what he was being taught ("health" class), this counselor didn't like that. This counselor made our family go through extremely stressful middle school years, pushing their own agenda because they didn't like the way we have beliefs or principles we live by. The staff in the office are very rude, never smile and also make their own rules that are not communicated. Communication at a whole is lacking. The staff seem unhappy working here. My second child, did not want to return after his 6th grade year, the teachers being the main motivation, they did not know how to control the class and when there were problems instead of focusing on the trouble makers, blamed the whole class. Making this a not positive learning space, this was the main motivator to not have my son return- his decision. Just not fair for the children who are acting the way they should and getting no recognition. This negative learning environment is not conducive to learning or helping this difficult age bracket.This school needs a major undertaking of new admin. The principle Mr Mela never replies to any email sent to him. That also goes to Brad Crozier Superintendent, who also doesn't give a hoot about returning emails. Also if you're thinking of moving to Sudbury and would like your child to go to a Technical school, there is no choice as we are out of district. The Tech schools in the area only accept in district students, making the opening for any others NIL. Meaning they don't even look at those who are applying out of district because of the amount they get- very competitive. Only choice is to send your child to the Lincoln Sudbury HS.

I think the lessons are great and I have learned a lot so far from my teachers, but I sometimes hear vulgar and impolite comments being made about others, which has made the school environment not very pleasant for me. I am disabled and I'd say the accommodations are okay. Not super good, but not bad either. Similarly for the emotional support, It isn't terrible but it could be better. I recommend this school only because the classes are good and you'd learn a lot
