My children love their school and friends. Although lately, I've noticed there is only one person at the front office and sometimes there are two teachers but rarely now. I also noticed my children one time coming home saying they have a contest in school to fill a jar with coins and the class having the most coins filled will win ... odd ... I feel that the school is conserving soo much of their funds and making it difficult for other teachers. They also have a new program for younger children where parents can enroll their children for a few hours everyday and pay 300 a month. Even daycare centers having good curriculum is less expensive than what the school offers and it is a full day. I don't get what is happening internally but I for sure do not like what I am seeing.

Big Hollow Middle School has been a fantastic experience for our family! All of my children have truly thrived here—academically, socially, and emotionally. The school’s robust advanced placement program has challenged them in the best way possible, and we are proud to say they consistently score in the top 98% on state tests.Beyond the classroom, Big Hollow offers incredible opportunities in athletics and the arts. My kids have loved being part of the cross country—competing at the state level this year—and basketball teams! The coaches are supportive and truly invested in the success and character development of each student-athlete.When it comes to fine arts, Big Hollow is unmatched. The band is large, enthusiastic, and full of talent, and the annual musicals and plays are absolutely top-notch. One of the biggest highlights is Mrs. Dee, the beloved choir teacher—every student adores her, and her passion is contagious.The teachers and staff are respectful, supportive, and clearly care about their students’ growth and well-being. The school also does a great job supporting students’ mental health and making sure every child feels safe, welcomed, and encouraged.We’ve felt welcomed and included every step of the way. Big Hollow truly partners with families to ensure student success. I couldn’t be happier with our experience!

We absolutely love Big Hollow! This is my 6th year as a BH parent, and every year my kids have had amazing teachers who truly care about them. The teachers and staff are like family, and the community itself is just so friendly and welcoming. The teachers and admins emphasize character education. The superintendent is very involved, you see him at most events. It’s a wonderful school!

I do agree with a couple other reviewers. Teachers actually talk bad about their students in front of classes with other students. Those students have gone back and told my son this. This is childish and should not be tolerated from grown adults, especially ones that are supposed to be mentors for our children. My son needed extra help and was in a special program, when he was doing better they moved him back to a different class in the program where he struggled. I’m told this is to help him when he gets older and starts working. Let’s first focus on helping him get through high school. That seems like it should be a top priority for both the parent and the school system. It seems as though they are setting the kids up for failure, not sure if it’s a race thing or not. Possibly as someone else mentioned, if you’re not part of those students that excel, they don’t care. They will also lie to the parents, they think they’re smarter than you and you’ll believe what they’re saying if they say it enough times. It saddens me that I initially trusted staff at this school. Hard lesson learned.
