"Lived in that area for a few years. Burdick is busy, blocks away from the police station. Frequently had the street blocked off searching for suspects, sometimes even had cops blocking us from getting in our driveway. A lot of homeless and drug addicts walking the streets. A lot of gun shots, which was hard to get used to. Outside of corner stores, it’s pretty much a food desert unless you drive 4-5 miles to Westnedge or Gull Road. One day, I had to break up a dog fight in the middle of the road. This woman who didn’t speak any English had her unneutered male pit running around, attacked the neighbors dog in the middle of the road. Traffic stopped, my neighbor and I are trying to get this stray to let go of his dog, she shows up— I have her dog by his back leg saying you got him? You sure you got him? I let go, she looses her grasp and the dog goes into my neighbors yard and attacks his dog again... after all of this, my landlord said he was raising rent $100. From $650 to $750, 650 ft/2– 1br, 1 bath, 1 closet, nothing included. We took that as our opportunity to get out. And even though we didn’t secure housing and ended up homeless, it was better than living in that area any longer. 0/10. Don’t live here. "

"It’s not a good area. There’s areas that are bad and others that are worse, but in general— it’s not a good part of town. I own dogs and cats. Walking our dogs on the sidewalk is a daily risk of cutting their feet on broken bottles. I’ve had a gun pointed at me for looking for my cat. We hear gun shots quite frequently actually. I was raised in the suburbs and moved here looking for a place to call home for a few years. It was a bad choice. It’s very unsafe. "

"we have lived here for three years and my neighbor pulled a gun out on us for trying to get our cat back inside. worst place to live. "
  • Clarie201
"We are the alternate flood route, otherwise a quiet friendly neighborhood, frequently unnoticed. We all know each other, yet keep to ourselves while also lending a watchful eye, as neighbors are away, without being nosy "
  • Mnturner9661
"I live and work in this area. I love living in the city. Close to all the walking trails, and outdoor activities. Close to downtown Kalamazoo and all festivities. The mall is right around the corner, and the schools are close by as well as the college. Never without something to do. Public transportation is within walking distance as well."
