Big Perch Lake is a warmwater fishery with panfish (perch, bluegills, and crappies) as the primary fish species. The cozy, traditional style half-round log-sided cabin has one bedroom, with additional sleeping space in the upstairs that has a partially open stairway, one bathroom, a full kitchen, living room, and an office/den/storage space - everything you need to live here year-round if you desire. The screened in porch area is a great place to read, relax, play cards, or have your family meals outdoors while also avoiding inclement weather and insects. New furnace (only used a few times in summer) was installed in 2001, the cabin was re-roofed in 2014, and a new well point in 2015. The oversized one car detached garage is a nice size for storing a boat, canoes, kayaks, and all other water-sport items that you will want to have. Hunt for deer, bear, grouse, woodcock, snowshoe hare, and other small game, or enjoy other forms of recreation such as hiking, biking, sight-seeing, etc., on thousands of acres of state land a short distance in every direction from Big Perch Lake. You may also catch a glimpse of non-game wildlife such as moose that are frequent visitors in the area. There are many other lakes, streams, and rivers nearby for fishing, including the Black River and Middle Branch of the Escanaba River. (Please note: this property is on Big Perch Lake which is approx. 20 minutes south of Ishpeming and 20 minutes east of Republic, directly north of Little Perch Lake. There is another Perch Lake just east of Republic.)
