Description

Welcome to 318 Brown Street and historic Uptown Martinsville! Unbelievable charm, space, updates, and income-generating potential are all here and waiting for you! Built in 1908, this historic gem has been lovingly converted from a business and back into a spacious home - and one for the contemporary homeowner! Zoning permits it to be used as a home, or other commercial purposes like a bed and breakfast, or AirBnb! Gorgeous hardwoods, six fireplaces (aesthetic only/chimneys nonfunctional), enormous rooms, and tons of parking! A short list of amazing updates include: Roof replaced with Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration shingles; both heat pumps replaced with Trane units; tankless gas water heater added; Hunter ceiling fans and multiple light fixtures installed/replaced throughout; all three bathrooms updated with stunning porcelain tile, new vanities, fixtures, and modern toilets with built-in bidets/remote controls; kitchen moved upstairs/updated with new cabinetry, stainless steel fridge and stove, granite counters, and a large, singe-basin, black stone sink; porcelain tile mud room/rear entry remodel; entire interior repainted; new driveway and repaved 16 space parking lot - and much more! The former garage is now used for storage and laundry for the apartment above. The apartment has also been updated with a separate mini-split HVAC system. Museums, galleries, restaurants, shopping, trails, and more - all a short stroll away! A wonderful opportunity awaits, so call now!

"It’s a old town so it’s quite. Most people just keep to themselves. It does get busy when racing season is here."
  • Penny L. P.
"Close to everything you would need. You could walk or there is a public transportation bus that stops at the most commonly frequented places ."
  • Richard T. M.
"not many lose animals due leash laws most everyone takes care of their pets and enjoy keeping to themselves"
  • EBONY H.
"If you have no car it's hard to get around unless you live near the PART Bus route. when my car broke down it was hard getting around. there is always room for improvement. we need more for the kids to do and families "
  • Michelle S. I.
"Easy access to main road...straight shot to work. Traffic isn’t too bad unless there is an accident or road work. "
  • Richard T. M.
"I grew up here and have owned my home for over21 years... its quiet and mostly peaceful, even though the neighborhood is aging.."
  • Judycakes3356
"i guess i see people walk dogs all the time. there isnt a lot of trash on the street in our area either."
  • Laura M.
"Quiet neighborhood mountain scenery no neighbors Bother you None of the homes are set on top each other you got least an acre"
  • Joshua D. C.
"This area is quiet and has nice neighbors it has a decent front yard no backyard it's well lit plenty of parking space for a one bedroom apartment complex and is near the highway but not close enough to where u can hear them inside so all and all not to bad for a cheap place to live"
  • Nikia
"Not far from shopping center, hospital and major highway. Area is quiet and neighbors are friendly "
  • Robert
"just a good neighborhood to live in quiet spacious friendly neighbor's i lived here all my life im 30 years old "
  • Jwstokes2nd
"It is a good place to live. Not too much to do.....but close to Danville, Roanoke, W-S, Greensboro. House prices are cheap."
  • Robert m.
"Moving into the city from Henry County was a good thing. Uptown has cultural events throughout the year and the neighborhood I live in is quiet. The park is centralized and includes basketball courts, skate board park, disc-golf course and numerous picnic areas and playgrounds. The traffic is moderate--more than the county but nothing compared to the bigger cities. Rania's offers fine dining dowtown and there are numerous chain restaurants available. The area is conveniently located between Danville, Greensboro, and Roanoke. Highway 58 connects us directly to Virginia Beach (it turns into Virginia Beach Boulevard and then into 25th Street at the beach!) and 220 connects us north and south to Roanoke and Greensboro. Great place to live!"
  • dmhubener
"Martinsville VA is a small town with many positive qualities. Great place to raise children. Schools constantly improving. Cost of living is excellent. Great for retirees and couples raising children. Close knit . Adequate shopping for groceries, pharmacy and clothing. All near-by the neighborhoods. The Forest Park/Mullberry Rd area is the best in town. Several excellent subdivisions just outside city limits. Great outdoor activity area. More sophisticated shopping means going to Greensboro, 48 min away, easy trip or Roanoke, same distance North and easy trip. Local hospital is fine enough physicians of all types so it is not necessary to leave town to see doctor. However, excellent medial facilities for very serious problems close enough to use. Winston Salem Baptist Hospital, Hospitals in Greensboro NC and Roanoke and even Duke are withing striking distance. Have lived here for last 12 years. Lived in Central Florida, Pittsburgh, PA, Columbus Ohio suburbs. This area most like central Florida in political/social views. Only drawback for me. All in all a fine place to live. "
