6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a former teacher at this school and this review is a joke! Between the students and administration I was fighting a two front battle on a daily basis. This job ruined me on education and forced me to change careers. Students are unruly disrespectful and behave in a uncivilized manner on a daily basis. Myself and other teachers would receive threats from students and send them to the office only to have them returned to us within the same class period and no disciplinary action taken on the students. If anything the teacher was later reprimanded for sending the student out of class. Students are never held accountable for their behavior at this school so they will never learn. The teachers instead are blamed for the actions of the student. I have worked at rough schools previously however this was one of the most backwards and frustrating experiences in my life. The teaching staff as a whole is great and do all that they can with what they are given. The class sizes horrendous. In order to boost test scores the subject areas that are tested regularly are quite small, but any content area that is not tested with an EOC is packed with students. It was not uncommon to see classes with 35-40 students packed into a class. There is not enough money in the world to get me to work at this school again, and under no circumstances would I ever send my child here. 5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have two sons at Stokes School and we are very happy with the school and the experiences that we have had over several years. My family loves the fact that it is a K-8 school, and especially how the middle school kids look after the elementary school students - the school as a whole is one big family. Great staff from the administration down to support staff. I consider many of the staff as true friends of our family, friends that I did not know until my sons began their school career at Stokes. The teaching staff is awesome. The school is in the process of implementing the 7 Habits program and it is amazing how my sons talk about the habits. It has led to some great discussions when I talk about a win-win situation. Thank you to the school and the staff!Parent Review11y ago
