All of our children have attended Schroon Lake Central and as parents we have been very pleased!! While no school is perfect, there has been good leadership in place and the small atmosphere, low teacher to student ratio, local community emphasis have been really great. It is very much the center of the community, with a strong emphasis on good discipline and focus on meeting the needs of students. The school has made US News and World Reports Best Schools list a number of times in recent years. They offer college credit courses in both 11th and 12th grades that has contributed to our children graduating with a big chuck of their Freshman college classes completed saving us a ton of money. The school has also gone thru a two year $14.7 million building project that has improved nearly every area of the building and property. New gym, state of the art, award winning auditorium, addition of a new upstairs wing and countless other improvements. The school taxes are the lowest in the region with a number of families moving to Schroon Lake because of the quality education and low taxes. It is truly a very good, old fashion local school that is very hard to come by these days.
