About this House

This beautiful craftsman bungalow is for sale by owner. Please contact the owner directly at 309-533-0435.
If you love early twentieth century houses but would rather not deal with the old house quirks, this is the house for you. Built in 1916 this 3 bedroom 2.5 bath home was taken down to the studs and exterior sheeting in 2008. Everything was replaced and updated including:
-Standing seam metal roof
-James Hardie cement board siding
-Anderson/Eagle windows (made in Dubuque IA)
-Soy-based spray foam insulation
-New wiring
-New plumbing (PEX manifold system) and Riniai tankless water heater
-High efficiency Lennox HVAC system with all new ductwork.

The main level floors are 6 in. wide reclaimed quarter-sawn white oak from Wisconsin, and reclaimed slate (from Chenoa grade school). The second level floors are the original clear straight grained Douglas fir.

The house also has all new drywall and paint, and all the trim and cabinet work is custom and period appropriate, including an inglenook area with floor to ceiling bookshelf and mantle with slate surround and carrara marble tiling in the bathroom.

The kitchen has been recently finished and includes:
-Brand new built in double ovens (used about 10 times)
-Brand new Samsung French door refrigerator (3 months old)
-Countertops are custom crafted soapstone, white oak and maple.
-Walls are reclaimed beadboard and Carrera marble subway tiles.
-Reclaimed floating shelves.
-Ikea cabinets with custom drawer fronts.
-Gas range
-Under mount stainless steel sink
-Custom range hood

"overall it's a great place to raise a family, but, just like anywhere, check the crime maps and make sure your kids know to stay away from certain parts of town. Downtown Bloomington is where the highest concentration of crime happens. Mostly the college kids are targeted, but just be a little more cautious around there."
  • Lsadvisorrachel
