Rising Star High School won the UIL Academic District Championship this year. Our debate team won the UIL Cross Examination Debate State Championship this year. Rising Star qualified 14 students to the regional level in 17 UIL academic events. We have 6 students qualified to compete at the NCFL Grand National speech and debate tournament in Washington, D.C. Memorial Day Weekend, 2011. Two of those students will be competing with five junior high students in Dallas in June, 2011, at the National Forensic League HS and JrH national speech and debate tournament.. Our band had 20 members tryout for the Pioneer Honor Bands with approximately 6 placing first chair and the remaining earning seats in at least one of the two honor bands. Tie these academic accomplishments with the athletic accomplishments happening this spring and it makes for a excellent wrap-up to the school year.
