After having my two kids attend ALMS, during Covid for my oldest one, and now my youngest finishing 8th grade, I am compelledto write a review and give credit to the work being done at this school from a parent perspective. The principal, Mrs Edwards, seems to have brought a lot of improvement to the school activities, communication and students well being. I have seen improvements in my child’s performance at school, the music department is impressive, and the extracurricular activities are abundant (arts, science, sports!). Completely recommend this school for it’s diversity and academic offering and kudos to the staff for doing a great job!

I’m not sure why this school isn’t rated higher. The Principal at Davis is absolutely incredible and on top of everything. He addresses matters with a great heart and in a fair manner. His staff all loves him and so do the parents / children. The teachers here are young and have mostly been there for over 10yrs. They’re all professional, kind, friendly and charismatic. It’s a very warm school and you can feel that from the first interaction at the door from the security guard who knows almost every kid by their first name. I love that the school offers a safe and structured after school program that runs until 6pm, with optional electives for your child to continue to learn in a safe environment. We signed ours up for daily after school electives: Robotics, Improv, Chess, Building Planes and Spanish. During this time, they also provide an hour of homework opportunities and let the children out to play in the playground. They come home fulfilled and happily tired! We were provided a brand new laptop that is locked and strictly for classroom assignments. As far as diversity, we found there is a nice mix of white, black, Latino and Asian — all families seem really nice so far. The school PTA does a great job of creating various year round events that allow parents to get to know each other. We learned that most kids in our child’s classroom live within 1.3 miles from the school (they don’t require bussing) which means our child will have lots of local childhood friends to grow up with — this was very important to us. We look forward to rest of our time here and send a massive thank you to the entire staff at Davis. We are grateful for you.

New Rochelle High School is going downhill fast. Despite increased funding, the school has cut honors classes, reducing academic rigor for motivated students. The athletic department is poorly run, disorganized, and unaccountable, with constant mismanagement and lack of transparency. More money, fewer opportunities, and worse outcomes. Families deserve better. The Superintendent is arrogant and could care less for these kids.
