"Our neighborhood is lovely and very quiet. We appreciate that we know most of our neighbors and we look out for each other. It is also nice being able to feel like you are living in the woods while still being in a neighborhood. "
  • Emma W.
"It’s not too far from everything. Other places with stores or activities are at most, 40 minutes away. Drawbacks are being in a tourism town."
  • Betty Marineau
"I raised my children in this neighborhood and they have lifelong friends because of it. There is something to be said for truly knowing your neighbors. They are there for you in good times and in bad."
  • Ed v.
"I've lived in this area for 17 years. people are friendly and considerate. the area has been developing rapidly and with the influx of new residents things are changing."
  • Cswhit76
"There is a terrific farmers market . We also do a lot of barbecuing in the summer or go to the beach and have a day long picnic."
  • Paul R.
"Wells is an active and friendly community located on the ocean, a great place to raise a family and/or retire. "
  • Zachary D. S.
"I have vacationed here dozens of times as a kid and adult. I have rented homes here and I love it. Lots to do in the summer/fall...winter gets a little nasty with not much to do. "
  • Janis
" Safe area. Beautiful beach great for swimming, walking, surfing. Restaurants closed by nine pm in many cases. Dogs are not allowed on beach during the day in the Summer leaving residents with only busy streets to walk their dogs. Traffic heavy during summer months with extra police presence. However, the extra police force is often seen standing around talking to one another or riding bikes while traffic is backed up in the center. Police will fine visitors for shooting off fireworks on July 4 even if shot over the ocean at low tide. Residents have also been stopped when walking down the street with a soda in their hand and asked what they were drinking.. It also appears many year round residents resent those who come to the beach in the Summer despite the monetary benefit they bring to the town. Beach is not cleared of seaweed as well as Ogunquit or Moody. Seaweed along with plastic and paper trash is dragged to waters edge at low tide only to be returned to beach with the high tide. (Job security for those operating machinery.) Town only picks up large debris from beach. Trash is left for residents to pick up. Trash cans are not available along public ways year round. Only in summer. Sand is often left on cement stairs in center which can be hazardous to people of all ages. Beach could be better taken care of. Home trash pick up is not provided by the town."
