8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI moved to Matthews from California after unexpectedly losing my husband. The staff embraced my family and gave my 3 boys the emotional support they needed during an extremely difficult time. One teacher was determined my twins received the speech therapy they needed even though we were denied repeatedly. We left what was considered a great school in California. I honestly felt Matthews Elementary gave my children an education comparable to a private school. Now all three children have a college education. One is getting his master’s and another his doctorate. I would 100% recommend this wonderful school and its loving community.Parent Review2y ago15 Reviews - David W Butler High

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is the worst school you could put your child in. The teachers couldn’t care less about how well you understand the material as long as they get the paycheck. The school bathroom are absolutely nasty with many incidents of people spreading poop all over the walls- yuck. There is a huge smoking and fighting problem at this school as well. I highly recommend you avoid enrolling your child here and find somewhere else.Student Review2mo ago14 Reviews - Crestdale Middle

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIm a student, currently. It feels as if silence is rewarded, rather than natural curiosity— which is a fundamental element to learning. The school has a good arts program, which is a breath of fresh air from other schools I’ve seen/ been to.But what I’m concerned about is how I’ve caught myself counting down the hours multiple times, rather than enjoying learning— which, if I’m properly informed, goes against the goal of the school as a whole.I witnessed a staff member scold and, frankly, argue with a student over a hat. To be fair, said student was talking back, but in a defensive tone; which suggests the idea that he had past, negative experiences with staff.Overall, i would recommend this school with caution.Student Review5mo ago42 Reviews - Check out schools near 3038 Beech.

"I’ve lived in this area since I was born. The town is small and the only thing you must attend is the Matthews alive parade Labor Day weekend other than that it’s a clean town. And very friendly. "
