I went there several years ago; the disciplinary system is absolutely awful. Punishment is dealt in laps during recess, which punish students unnecessarily (especially ones who didn't do anything wrong). I'm not sure if this form of group punishment is standard, but I certainly don't agree with it. Aside from this, the teachers are of reasonable quality and are nice enough, but the system of punishment as a whole needs to be rethought.

Haskett Middle School has serious concerns when it comes to how student discipline is handled. As a parent, I have experienced firsthand what appears to be inconsistent investigations and a lack of fairness in decision-making.In my son’s situation, disciplinary action was taken based on an incomplete investigation with missing details and no clear evidence. Decisions were made quickly, yet in other situations involving different students, investigations have taken longer without resolution. That inconsistency is concerning.What stood out even more was the difference in tone and treatment. In a previous incident where my son was the one harmed, the administration was empathetic, calm, and spoke highly of the other student. In this situation, the tone shifted to being accusatory, dismissive, and lacking the same level of understanding.It is also troubling to observe what appears to be a pattern in disciplinary actions disproportionately affecting African-American students. This raises serious concerns about equity and whether all students are being treated fairly.Parents deserve transparency, and students deserve thorough, unbiased investigations before serious disciplinary decisions are made. I strongly encourage district leadership to review these practices and ensure accountability moving forward.

Some of my teachers barely teach. They just say “ do it yourself” or won’t help us until we get our notes out. Freeman also doesn’t have many classes for other job opportunities. The counselors don’t even do anything, and when they do they just mess it up. Also not to mention, people fight A LOT in this school and the school just gives warnings. They finally did something about it. The school doesn’t tell us everything we need to know too. Go guardian blocks websites that I actually need to do my work but it still gets blocked. It puts a limit on how many tabs we have too. Some teachers are really mean and rude to their students. Some even might say offensive things to their students. And along with that, other teachers don’t even know what they are teaching. How are the students supposed to learn when the teachers can’t even teach? The busses have become too crowded and there are sometimes 3-4 people in one seat. I feel like this school doesn’t give us enough resources to learn. The teachers don’t even know what they are teaching. How are students going to learn when the teacher can’t even teach? This school has many problems and I hope they get addressed and fixed for future students.
