We are recent transplants from the West Coast and I must say this school has been amazing, especially considering Covid 19 and the many challenges faced by schools over the past year. The teachers at this school truly care about the students and the communication is incredible! I lived in a great neighborhood in our last area and the school system was pretty bad. My child was accepted to a charter school and it was still horrible. No communication at all and they did not care about the students or the parents at all and this is the complete opposite. Mrs. Simmons is awesome and gets any questions you may have answered and resolved very quickly. The VP even called me (father) personally to introduce herself and let me know my daughter was missing one single assignment!! I seriously couldn’t believe it.. Since enrolling at this school my daughter has flourished and she’s excited about learning again! This school is on par with expensive private schools in other cities. The sports program seems very well organized and fun!! Every single person from the front desk all the way up to the Principal seems to take a great amount of pride in giving a true education to the kids. I was surprised to hear my daughter talking about some of the things they are learning at the 7th grade level and if this is indicative of the Dare County School System I have absolutely no doubt that she will be well prepared to attend a good University with a great success! If you’re questioning the school here in relation to a proposed relocation, don’t worry at all. They made or transition from across the country a very nice experience. They are doing an amazing job here and I’m proud to have a student at this school! Go Braves!!!

This school and administration is biased. They only help the ones who donate to the school. My child competed in a school competition and was on the winning team, then when it came time for the county competition, she was replaced and made an "alternate". When the school won the county competition (not the students) they then decided to keep the teams the same and asked the "alternates" to go to the regional competition but are not allowed to wear their school shirt that the rest of the teams are going to wear. This school is only concerned about getting the trophy for recognition, and not recognize the students who put forth the work. Last year my child had a teacher who made her students do work in class without teaching the subject, then kept the grades (which were failed grades) then decided to teach the subject. Then they scare the kids to not ask for help from their parents because they tell them if they get help then they will fail. This school needs a major overhaul and needs teachers and administration that are there for the students not themselves.
