Athens is a darling town. Moving up fromNYC was the best choice for us and our family. Small classroom size, individual attention and nice facilities.

I know that coxsackie gets a lot of criticism but a lot of it I feel is unfair. I go to this school and enjoyed my time at this school. It's not perfect. However, through my experience I feel that this school is actually very warm and comforting. I feel that the teachers are there for you, actually care a great deal for you, and want to see you do great things. They have devoted a lot of their time to me. Most people are nice to you, of course there are few individuals who are out to get you. I feel that there have been many changes through out the generations and there will be many more changes. The generations are gradually improving; there is less racism and less issues. There still are issues in this school but many are fading out. I would suggest this school to many people who would want their child to have a good education and a really nice atmosphere.

We had moved here on the idea we would have a more individualized academic experience for our child being a smaller school. We were met with an eye-opening list of concerns from bullying, racism to data manipulation by leadership, a rapid decline of test scores as well as declining graduation rates. These all fell egregiously below the state average that also encountered the hurdles from CoVid. Leadership practices are bizarre to say the least. I see very little professional conduct. Bullying is not your usual kids picking on kids sort of thing. It’s bad and scary. Leadership seems to boast how little referrals they acquire, which only shows how much is swept under the rug. I personally went to the board with evidence on the many points, and they are like a deer in headlights. We pulled our child out of school shortly into the second year. I would not recommend buying a home in this area with any intention of using this school district for your child.
