6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIn my opinion this is not a school that I would recommend you to bring your child to,Some teachers actually care about their students and treat them like their own, while some teachers simply don't care. As far as fights go,they have decreased over time but you will still get 45 days at alternative school even if its for defending yourself. They don't really check bags and its very easy to bring really anything in regardless if you're good at hiding things or not they simply don't care things, there is mild substance use and the cafeteria staff can be really rude,This school is a very toxic environment and bullying goes on all the time. This school has a high self harm and depression rate,on most occasions students sneak in razor blades,or other things they can use to harm themselves, and when they go to the counselor about anything even if they tell them to not tell anyone they do,the counselors are unreliable and take a while to get to you. If anything they don't try and resolve anything they try and make it worse. I despise this school because it drains me me mentally and since school is supposed to be a safe place I don't really take this lightly. Even though there is a decrease in fights they still happen, students often fight in the bathrooms or they find ways to meet up at north Park. If your child loses a fight they will be chastised and potentially bullied even if they were just defending themselves. The teachers do in fact pick favorites.Even though we have excessive rules people still break them because a lot of them are useless,it's like being in prison rather than being in school . No specific water bottles because apparently someone brought liquor ONCE ,no lotion,no perfume,no specific jackets, and you can't bring your own snacks. There are surely dealers, and drug usage but nobody seems to notice because they are worried about people always wanting to fight each other. It's like you have to constantly watch your back, the students are messy and all they want to see is people fight, its toxic and all they want is fights. I mainly think its due to the lack of entertainment. I wouldn't trust these counselors because instead of helping they move you along and call your parents even though they swear they don't. An old friend of mine was struggling with self harm and instead of helping all she did was call her parents. The students often are loud and don't care about learning anything.PLEASE DON'T BRING YOUR CHILD HERE.Student Review6mo ago6 Reviews - North Side High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are new to TN from Indiana (moved down here in Nov)...I have a 4th & 2nd grader who were both doing just fine in school...since being at Pope, they want to hold my 2nd grader back (he was also bullied to the extent of sobbing every time the bus pulled up) & the 4th grader is flunking almost every class! It's become a huge mess and I'm seriously considering switching schools. So sad!!Parent Review9y ago5 Reviews - Check out schools near 3 Bascom Rd.

"Quiet, mostly retired people with most people keeping up their homes and maintaining their lawns. Convenient to Lowe’s and WalMart and many fast food restaurants. Not many opportunities for fine dining but there are two locations within 3 miles that are lower than fine dining but not chain restaurants. "

"Fabulous neighbors and neighborhood, in general, until flippers and slum lords started buying properties in the area, Now, the neighborhood is not nearly as safe or serene as it once was. They are slowly destroying it for everyone. "

"I've lived in Jackson my whole life. I live in South Jackson and prefer it more than North Jackson. Out south does need more apartment complexes and entertainment places like movies and bowling. "

"Traffic is not good. The bypass construction sucks. I don’t work in Jackson but the commute in the mornings is rough if you hit rush hour. The bypass construction has caused a lot of different problems. Perhaps when they get it done it’ll be better. "
