This year, in one specific classroom, his performance has dropped to the point of being at risk of failing. After months of trying to understand why, it’s clear this is not an effort issue—it’s tied to the classroom environment.There is a pattern of behavior in this class that is deeply concerning. My child and others have experienced frequent yelling, inconsistent and repeated discipline (including being penalized more than once for the same issue), and actions that feel retaliatory rather than instructional.More concerning, there have been reports of physical intimidation in the classroom, including incidents that were serious enough to be acknowledged by the school. That alone should not be happening in any learning environment.My child has also expressed that certain students, including athletes, are singled out in ways that directly impact their grades and ability to participate in school activities.This goes beyond a “strict teacher.” A structured classroom is one thing—an environment where students feel targeted, discouraged, or intimidated is another.I have escalated this to school leadership and expect it to be taken seriously.
