Most of the reviews here are old. The school now has a new principal who was a former teacher and who is excellent. This is very much a community school and I am incredibly impressed with their focus on social emotional growth and positive behavior. My child loves school and so far every teacher is excellent. There is also a very active parent support between an active PTA that provides lots of community activities for families, free parenting classes, and a resource staff that connects families to services (veggie boxes, free hike helmets, etc..) I also have to commend the afterschool programs. The one our child goes to is top notch and the staff are very professional and wonderful with the kiddos.

"I lived in this neighborhood for four years in my early twenties. I loved the access to the beach and the mountains, lots of students around but I never had any issues with partying in this area. It's expensive, but the overall feel of Santa Cruz cannot be beat for those who love the beach and laid back lifestyle. "

"I live in the Mount Hermon part of Felton. I see a lot of people walking their dogs and stopping to chat and let the dogs say “hi” to each other. It is a very dog-friendly neighborhood. "

"Proximity to some of the beautiful, giant Redwood forests and state Parks (within walking distance). Beautiful area. Wonderful, caring neighbors who actually reach out and come to help if they see you have a problem... heavy boxy, fallen tree, electrical outage., etc. "

"This is a lovely and quiet wooded canyon only 10 minutes away from downtown Felton. It's an easy commute to Santa Cruz , but a world apart and a haven of peace when the beach crowds start showing up!"

"It's a bit of a drive into Lompico Canyon, but a beautiful one, especially in the fall when all the maple trees that line the creek turn gold. We enjoy living here because it is very private feeling, yet the neighborhoods have a friendly vibe. "

"The neighbors are friendly and there are a lot of kids and dogs in the area. We can walk to any where in Felton within minutes which includes groceries, restaurants, coffee shops, entertainment etc. We have Roaring Camp and Henrey Cowell Redwoods State Park in our back yard. We are 6 miles from the ocean and we have UCSC, SLV High School and even a Montessori School in our own neighborhood. Whats not to like??? "

"e zayante road is terrible for traffic; we've had one dog run over and killed by a speeding driver, half the road has been washed out for more than a year. There are no sidewalks or bike lanes.Without a motor vehicle you're stuck. Some areas have several winter months with no sunshine whatsoever."
