10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a parent of a student at Brooklyn Technical High School, I can say with confidence that this school has been a fantastic choice for our family. Like many parents, I had initial concerns because of the school’s size—it’s one of the largest high schools in the country, with a massive building and thousands of students. But we quickly learned that size does not mean students get lost. On the contrary, Brooklyn Tech is a place where motivated, hardworking kids can really shine. My child has found both academic and extracurricular opportunities that fit their interests perfectly. There are so many majors, electives, and clubs that every student can find a niche and a supportive peer group. The rigor is demanding, but it prepares students incredibly well for college and beyond. I’ve seen my child grow in confidence, independence, and intellectual curiosity, which has been so rewarding.Another strength is the way the school communicates with families. Brooklyn Tech does an outstanding job keeping parents informed through daily communications. I never feel out of the loop. Teachers and administrators are also very accessible and responsive whenever I’ve had a question or concern. Even though the school is large, I’ve always felt that faculty genuinely care about their students and want to see them succeed. One area I especially want to highlight is safety. Brooklyn Tech feels very secure, even though it does not rely on full-time metal detectors like many other NYC public schools. The administration and staff clearly take safety seriously, and the systems in place—combined with the orderly, respectful environment among the students—create a school culture where both kids and parents can feel at ease.In short, Brooklyn Technical High School is not for students who want to coast—it’s a place for motivated young people to challenge themselves, discover their strengths, and prepare for the future. With excellent academics, strong communication with families, caring faculty, and a safe environment, it’s one of the best educational opportunities available in New York City.I couldn’t be happier with our experience so far, and I wholeheartedly give Brooklyn Tech 5 out of 5 stars.Parent Review8mo ago22 Reviews - Ps 20 Clinton Hill

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur child had an awful experience here, finding none of the teachers very engaging, almost no fun projects and after school activities were fine but not nearly the variety and fun of other schools. The primary teacher was quite bad - his performance rapidly dropped over a few months and anytime we tried to ask the teacher about it, she displayed a total lack of interest or any familiarity with what he was actually doing. Worksheets and quizzes that made it home often were confusing, filled with typos, and in some cases directly contradictory to what was being taught. Tests had questions incorrectly graded, work was often (mis)graded by other students and never checked by the teacher. In all, our child significantly backslid over a few months, we felt completely ignored and blown off about any of our concerns, and our child's love of school and learning evaporated. We brought our concerns to the administration and they addressed some of them, but when we finally made the decision to leave mid-year, they had no interest in hearing or discussing our concerns. In addition to our concerns, we heard from many other parents that had similar issues with he quality of the instruction. Additionally, parents invovled on committees through the PTA frequently resigned their position, as they were blocked by the school from affecting any change (fundraising, field trips, etc. )Parent Review1mo ago16 Reviews - Ms 113 Ronald Edmonds Learning Center

"Amazing neighborhood, mostly townhouses on quiet tree lined blocks. A lot of apartments have backyards. There is all kings of public transportation, but parking a car might be a little hard, but it’s very close to the city. It’s my favorite neighborhood of n Brooklyn!!!"

"I’ve lived in the neighborhood for five years, it feels so central via all modes of transportation. So many train lines are walking distance. Buses stop on the corner. The ferry will take you to Wall Street, LIC or the East side of 34th street. Bike lanes & CitiBike are available if you don’t want to walk or wait for the bus. The building also has a bike room to store your bike. Prospect Park is directly up Vanderbilt Ave. Wegman’s is walking distance as well. There’s a farmer market at Fort Greene Park every Saturday. There are a lot of local restaurants to dine in or get take out at. Parking is doable in a 3 block radius especially since alternative side is less restrictive. The Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge are very close for easy access to the city. The courtyard is it’s own oasis. Neighbors are friendly and often the building holds events to foster community. I’ve been fortunate to be one of the originals here at Navy Green."
