My kids have attended Hydesville Elementary for a long time. We have had a positive experience with virtually every teacher here. As with any place in a community, there will be conflicts, but if you are an engaged parent who supports your children and is willing to communicate with teachers, your child will do well here. The students are well mannered for the most part and the school’s parent group makes lots of fun things happen throughout the year. There is a strong emphasis on academics, and the work load in middle school can be a bit intense for some. Be ready to support your child when transitioning to 6th grade. The teachers will guide the kids, but they don’t do handholding at this level. When students graduate, they are totally prepared (if not a bit ahead) for Fortuna High. I would definitely recommend the school to anyone who is ready to be an active participant in their child’s education.

"close to our church, schools, post office. rural area. we are within 7 miles of most community events. Apple Harvest Festival in October, Art and Wine in the Park, Truckers Christmas Parade. "

"This is a generally peaceful country place with lovely views of the pastures and forest hillsides. Like any area of working ranches and farms there are busy times and "farm" smells. If you like REAL country living, this is it."
