The teachers care about the students, they actually have common sense, and we're very CONNECTED and EMPOWERED by them. The electives and clubs you can join are also great, especially the music programs like band, guitar and orchestra. Chock full of very passionate music kids. The school library is better than some Oakland branches, the librarian is the absolute best, the kids run book club (best club ever!!!!!!!!!) and there's a TON of different books. If you actually pay attention in class, that's pretty interesting too. 1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGreat teachers and staff. I've noticed how much Playworks Coach "Nick" has made an impact in my kid's life as well as other students especially when he left to do his duty for the army. Coach Max also stands out as well for he has been the PE coach there for a very long time. As a single mother both these men have been a great role model to my child. Definitely recommend this school. As for the teachers, they are very friendly and welcoming! From what I've seen and experienced, teachers take a strong interest in students and really want them to succeed. There are so many clubs, sports and student activities for students to choose from. The track and field and cross country programs in particular are heavily invested in and are some of the best high school athletic programs I've seen. It has a high teacher-parent involvement, and save for a couple of not very good teachers, the rest have proven to be really good, engaging and motivating.
