"The climate is great for walking dogs. Dozens of dogs walk by our home every day. The beach is close and people and dogs are out walking down the beach. "
  • Lameris
"Lighting of boats in the harbor and going out to brunch in droves. Also, bonfires on the beach especially for the fourth of July. "
  • Marty Zimmerman
"I’m retired and live near downtown, so commuting for me is a breeze. I just travel during mon-rush hour. "
  • Trulia User
"Quiet neighborhood that is nicer than you think it would be. The freeway isn’t that loud even though you are so close."
  • Jaegerbombbooty
"Everyone here is super fun and unique. There’s always stuff going on downtown, music, art. There’s fruits trees everywhere."
  • Scgieringer
"I commute over the hill to San Jose so it’s convenient to the freeway to hop on quickly. There’s 4 or 5 grocery stores within minutes."
  • DENNIS L.
"Love. Neighborly. Generosity. Care. Help. People. Great food. Weather. Beach. Mountains. Outdoor recreation. Schools. Athletics. Plenty of activities for kids. Great downtown. All the parks. Surfing. Dog parks. Diversity. Always something to do. Perfect for gardeners like me. Best shelter in place location. Good access to Silicon Valley. Easy commute to everything. Asian food not far away."
  • Alyssa T.
"Big streets to walk on. No one gives you a hard time when passing their house. People are generally aware of their dog poops and cleans up after it."
  • Heatherdworkman
"easy walk to downtown, friendly neighbors both in my complex and on the street. Ive lived in the county for almost 10 years. "
  • Sara C.
"famous cause of the movie lost boys, we have the oldest amusement park on the west coast the last wooden rollercoaster left in the USA "
  • Catherine P.
"if you live in main town santa cruz, getting from place to place is really easy and simple. however, living in the county, up in the mountains, is rather tricky, but it also means less people bothering you"
  • Joseph E.
"I live right off of Soquel which is easy access to freeways and almost everything. there's bus stops and bike lanes."
  • Flavia T.
"People here are very dog friendly. They walk their dogs every day, because this neighborhood has the beach as their main via."
  • Tracypriest19
"Lived here for 2 years. Just off the beach. Cars are broken into regularly. I never leave anything in my car to prevent break ins. Bikes are stolen all the time. And if our apartment wasn’t hidden behind a large house I would worry about being broken into. It’s a hippy city and surfer and bro mentality or old ppl who don’t want it to change EVER ....the beach aspect is nice. But we are moving soon and I won’t be sad to leave. "
  • Epaine86
"Long, I drive over highway 17 to San Jose every day. The drive is winding and fairly dangerous with trucks. "
  • Trulia User
"new boys and girls clubhouse next to simpkins swim center is down the street. there arent really any regular "community events"."
  • Gaomefu8341

  • Noelle L. C.
"Heavy homeless population. Lots of random things on the ground for pup to pick up. There are several dog parks in the area."
  • Jenn.mahley
"We have block parties occasionally that bring the neighborhood together. They’re fun and you get to meet everyone."
  • Catherine P.
"There's a dog park down the street and tons of bike trails, but there's a lot of wildlife, so you need to be on your guard while walking the trails."
  • Catherine P.
"None that i am aware of. Neighbors keep to themselves, and with the busy road, no sidewalks, or bike lane, there isn't a lot of foot traffic"
  • Cweeks2007
"other than the pancake breakfast the fire department throws every now and again, there are no other events i am aware of"
