Extensive mouldings, burnished floors and original mantles pay homage to the past while a modern garage, primary bedroom suite, and huge kitchen-family room space speak to contemporary tastes. The southwest facing  front facade is dominated by a three-sided bay and conical roof while in the rear there is a fenced garden and terrace for coffee in the morning light. In an interesting footnote during this work-from-home period -- and this house has a great office -- between 1881 and 1887 the property was occupied by James F. Gunn who owned a lumber company at 2200 East Main St. and undoubtedly walked or rode down the hill to his place of business. This house is just blocks from some of the city's best bakeries and restaurants and only five minutes from either I-95, the Capitol Trail or downtown.

There is a nice Mall (White Oak Mall) located less than 10 minutes away in Eastern Henrico County with "big box" stores such as Lowes Home Improvement, J. C. Penney, Target, Martins Grocery, etc. along with restaurants such as Long Horn Steak House, Olive Garden, TGIF Fridays, Steak & Shake, etc. Public Transporation (GRTC) from the neighborhood is located one block away from N 33rd St. on Chimborazzo BLVD. There is also a Grocery store located just one block away from N 33rd St. The James River is within "walking distance" (approximately 15 minutes) from the 600 block on N. 33rd St. On the street parking is not a problem and there is alley access to the rear of the homes and ample room for off-street parking on each homes' lot located on the 600 block of N. 33rd Street. There is a dog park located with walking distance from the 600 block of N. 33rd St. as well as some restaurants, bars, parks."
