"This area of Forest Hills is close to the highway, close to three bus stops, less than five miles to major shopping and within three miles of local shops and services such as bank, dry cleaning, restaurants, coffee shops, hair care, doctors, dentists and vision care. There is a wonderful park within one mile, and the pool is less than a mile away. People are comfortable walking the neighborhood with or without pets. People are enthusiastic gardeners and care for the trees that give the neighborhood character. People talk to each other here."
  • Patricia_m_demarco
"Forest Hills has a very involved community. The local pool, Recreation facilities, also available at the High School, afford good opportunities for all ages. A generationally diverse neighborhood, with a tradition of friendliness. Also neighborhood with benefits of a well-supported natural environment, trees are valued and cared for here offering shade, wildlife habitat, and shelter. "
  • FH
"I've lived on Edgewood Road for 6 years and have been very happy here. The neighborhood is beautiful: architecturally distinctive older homes (lots of Tudors and brick colonials) in a park-like setting filled with trees, birds and wildlife. It's also very close to town -- I can be in Squirrel Hill in under 10 minutes, Downtown in 20 (depending on traffic). The downsides are that there's not much in the way of local shopping or restaurants, and the Woodland Hills School District gets mixed reviews (I don't have kids so I can't comment on it). But if you're looking for a tranquil home and don't mind driving or taking the bus, Edgewood Acres is a fabulous choice."
  • Rayobe
"Best kept secret, a valley haven just off a main road. Lots of families and young professional couples. Newly remodeled playground just inside the entrance of the area. Lots of places to walk and wooded area to take the dog for a run. The neighbors are the best. We miss the place and the people."
  • Skilling
"This ia a really lovely area to live. Very friendly people and quiet streets. Lovely community spirit."
  • Jab510
"We have an outstanding police, fire, and public works department. The business owners are friendly and make you feel welcome. Although Forest Hills is classified as a Pittsburgh address, it is a quaint, clean, and safe community."
