From here, scores of canoe routes begin, AND you can also use a motorboat up to 25 HP to go 6 miles up the Moose Lake chain of lakes to the Canadian border... and then for many miles on much of the Minnesota side of famous Basswood Lake! This cabin is part of the North Country Rendezvous Common Interest Community, where a total of 14 cabins are located. This was a famous resort for many years and became a private residential community about 20 years ago. There is a drilled well that is shared with one other cabin, a community septic system, a private garage stall that fits your boat on a trailer, and a year around common bath and shower house building with a laundry room. The annual HOA fee is $700 and covers many, many things. Cabin is presently seasonal, with the present owner here May to September, but a number of owners have upgraded to be able to use their cabins year around. Location, location, location! Moose Lake is considered to be the best jumping off place for wilderness access and fishing in the entire area!

    "Ely is located at the end of the road. No roads go to much further north due to the boundary waters canoe area which strictly prohibits dwellings or any man made structures. Ely can seem like a long way from anywhere at times and the community recognizes this and most willing are willing to help whoever and whenever the need may arise.
