GHS is a great high school for Granbury students. They have a huge array of classes for your child to choose from through their CTE (Career & Technical Education) program! They are focused on helping your student prepare for life in the real world, whether they are thinking of going to college, a tech school and getting right into the work force. Their Honors/AP courses have some truly outstanding teachers and will provide your student with an opportunity to really challenge themselves. Their regular courses are amazing and there are so many opportunities for extra activities like sports, band, etc... Teachers usually keep in touch through progress reports, report cards and will generally communicate any additional information you or your student might need to know. Their campus is large, clean and airy - it's beautifully designed and most classrooms have ample space. Just like other schools - the halls are pretty crowded walking to and from classes, but that's just par for the course at most schools here. The doors open early and your student can com early if they want to hang out with friends, have breakfast and study for classes together. So far, my son is enjoying his time here, making more friends daily and truly appreciates all the teachers and staff here. It's clear to me that they all are working extremely hard to make sure their students have all the support they need to make it through high school and into the real world. I'm also happy to see their security team so actively helping on campus in mornings and afternoons (traffic can be a nightmare, but it would be totally unmanageable without their amazing team). All in all, GHS is a wonderful high school and if you stay active and involved in your child's education, they can thrive here!

Acton Middle School was a great experience for my son who transferred mid-year from a state that had students out of school for a long time during Covid. He immediately made friends and was given any extra support he needed to catch up in all of his classes. He was able to transfer to extremely similar classes as compared to his old school (honors courses, art, and tech). Several of his teachers (especially Math and Science!) took time out of their schedules to get him caught up with TEKS requirements for his classes. His new friends really guided him through campus life and culture and accepted him as part of their group immediately. We are extremely grateful to the staff at AMS for making our transition to a new state and school go very smoothly. His teachers kept in touch through reports cards, class reports and were always ready to help and respond to anything. They are a lot of extra activities (sports, band, choir) for your student to be involved in over here. They also make sure to recognize the students who have worked hard on their academics and other activities - they have parties and award ceremonies too. Our experience with the AMS staff was great - everyone was professional, kind and welcoming. Yeah - the halls can be a little crowded moving through, but all Granbury schools are bursting at the seams given the huge growth here. My son has moved onto high school, but stills speaks very highly of AMS, his teachers and friends!

This school sets up an atmosphere that allows bullying, not only from peers, but teachers as well. My child got an award and instead of calling to let us know we could come see them receive it, they sent a notice in the mail…it showed up on Saturday after the ceremony on Friday. I believe it was done on purpose with the frustration we were having with an IEP. My child came home crying we were not there to support them and the school did not apologize to my child for it. My child also came home with bloody knees dripping down to their socks from a child pushing them. The only thing the nurse did was hand water to rinse it out by themselves, I had to clean out rocks in the wounds myself at home, they didn’t even give a bandaid. I was also never called to be made aware something happened, my heart dropped when they walked off the bus bloody. When state test scores come in, the teachers publicly hand prizes out according to grades, if a child fails they get none and the whole class knows who failed. When a child needs help with an IEP instead of fulfilling the IEP, they put the child in the hallway with another student to help them, the the child with the IEP not only loses out on the class time, so does the student they place with them. The entire class then knows they are struggling and has resulted in name calling and telling the my child how stupid they are. By the end of the school year, my happy bubbly child had disappeared and I fully hold the teachers and principal responsible for it. I took my kids out of this school system, any child having a bullying problem, needs pulled out to be protected, because this school won’t. I can attest the middle school handles bullying 100 times better, I am thankful for some of the the building back in my child they did, but the damage from this school was already to much.
