7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePutting my kids to this school was the biggest mistake I ever made. Compared to Somerville schools, this one is a year behind, academically. After Somerville coming to Hardy, my kids were bored out of their minds, especially at math. Math is ridiculously behind, at least 2-3 years, and not being taught as a hard science, but rather as sort of a literature: "please explain this". Observing my kids being bored, teachers did not react in a supportive way. One of the teachers started blaming my child that he was not explaining well. My kid was annoyed that he had to explain such an elementary math where he was so much ahead! All in all, this was a waste of life; kids didn't get any useful education out of Hardy. It is a glorified daycare.Parent Review1y ago7 Reviews - Ottoson Middle School

"I’ve lived here for three years and wish I didn’t. Crime, broken windshields, stolen bikes. Just like I was living in NYC in the 80’s. "

"Arlington center is lovely, historic, convenient and a perfect blend of suburb and city. Just too bad they blocked the red line from coming here. "

"I work from home because the commute is a bit of a pain. If I do go into our Back Bay office, it can take upwards of 25 minutes to drive to Alewife station and an addition 40-60 minutes to take the T to Boston."

"There really isn’t a better place in terms of density - not too dense but not completely auto-reliant. Mass transit and distribution of retail throughout neighborhoods could be better so we don’t have to use cars at all. "

"There are many dog owners frequently walking dogs. We are also a couple of blocks from the mystic river with a beautiful natural walk way that is very popular with dog walkers."

"Arlington is a beautiful and quiet suburb that is super super close to a train station that’ll take you straight into Boston. You get that nice quiet suburb feel with easy access to the city"

"There are a lot of dog owners in the neighborhood. Although they usually own their house or apartment. Finding an apartment that allows dogs and is affordable is very difficult/almost impossible in all of Boston, and Arlington is no exception."
