This school has a lot of arts opportunities which I appreciate however only certain students are given the full benefit of these opportunities. This school relies far to heavily on tests and test scores in line with the common core which is a waste of resources as not all children test well. They appear to be willing to offer extra help but it seems based on teaching children to take a test and not to learn life skills and important subjects that will help them become well rounded individuals. This school is one of the few schools that require the majority of students to get a regents degree which has very little value elsewhere in the U.S. and often makes learning difficult for non-regents oriented students. I am a parent and former student and the overall experience for me and my children at this school is that they are only interested in assisting favored students to succeed in their glorified and award winning arts programs while leaving others behind. It is also apparent that unless you are a multi generational local you will not receive the best the school can offer.
