"Nice combination of rural farming atmosphere and friendly people with the amenities you'd expect near a big lake. Summertime brings lots of water sports and many interesting activities. State park for hiking and swimming and nice variety of restaurants and night spots. About 1/2 hour to 45 minutes from major cities."
