When my children began to go to the Detroit school system I was very nervous. After a short time while meeting the parents and school staff I found out how special the school is . My two children attend Harms elementary. The building itself is old (really looks beautiful from the outside) other than that I feel lucky to have found a school so friendly and focused on getting these kids to read, two languages to boot. Thanks to all at the school especially Mr. Cruz- commander and leader!

Western International High School needs to do better. From my personal experience, it feels like the school only caters to a certain demographic while others are treated with disrespect and dismissiveness. The customer service in the front office is extremely poor, and that is unacceptable because the office staff are the first point of contact for parents, students, and the community.No parent or visitor should feel ignored, talked down to, or disrespected when trying to get help. Professionalism, communication, and respect should apply to everyone equally. The way people are treated in the front office reflects the overall environment of the school, and unfortunately my experience has been disappointing.There needs to be accountability, better training, and a stronger focus on treating all families fairly and respectfully. Parents and community members deserve better interactions and better representation from a school that is supposed to support students and families.
