From an academic performance the school is amazing. However, the school is awful when it comes to accommodations and bullying. If a student starts performing well due to accommodations, they are taken away. And if you do somewhat well in school, they will decide without even asking that you don’t need accommodations even if you do. In regards to bullying, the school does not take it seriously, at all. At the very least with verbal harassment, you will be told that for privacy reasons you can’t know if the perpetrator(s) was punished or not, so it’s unlikely you’ll find out if they even faced consequences for their actions. When I went down about a fairly serious incident, they didn’t even ask me what specifically happened, and then told me it wasn’t directed at me. If you’re popular, smart, and don’t need accommodations, this school is okay. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend it. Everyone I know who’s switched to other schools is always so happy to have gotten out of this one. I’d leave if I could too.

Academically the school is adequate, I would not even say stellar, most teachers are good. However, the school premises are run down and old, especially for the kids that come from the nearly brand new elementary school. My biggest problem with the school is the lack of support when it comes to the social climate and bullying. I have spent a good portion of my year dealing with the situational bullying, contacted staff at the school, and all they do is talk to my child- she’s not the problem! This is not my first ordeal with the middle school and I find that there is no really consistent message in regards to bullying other than not to do it. My other child was bullied so badly that he would get a stomach ache every day before school. The reputation of the school locally is that the kids are not called out on bad behavior and that even really troubled kids don’t get any sort of consequences or suspensions.

Unfortunately, the progressive agenda of the school board and Supt McNulty have ruined what were once great public schools. It's sad that kids are spending more time learning about transgender and other social issues than reading, writing and mathematics. I would recommend two things: 1) If you live in this town, get involved! You are not alone thinking this is craziness. 2) If you are thinking about moving to this town, please budget for private school. It's sad. There are some great teachers, but they are overpowered consistently by administration. Kids are being introduced to very controversial material and parents are not even consulted.
