7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageALL schools have bullying. All of them. Jr. High is especially rough as children are learning to interact without guidance. That being said, my daughter was called horrible things, pushed, and threatened. The principal took it very seriously and very promptly. He made a genuine effort to get to the root of the problem and try to resolve the situation. There is no perfect solution. Peer bullying is a complicated issue but I appreciate the principal for his fair mindedness and genuine concern for my daughters feelings. The student councilor is equally genuine and sincere. Having your child bullied is nothing short of heart shattering but I feel the low ratings regarding bullying are unfair. We've had to move many times during our children's education and I assure you this is THE BEST school by far when it comes to handling these hard situations. So far, the school has also impressed me where it really counts. Academics, school clubs, STEM /STEAM programs, and especially arts and music. Boardman has a Fantastic music program! I can't speak to the quality of their sports program because my children do not play a team sport.
