This is a terrible school to work for. So many rules aren't being followed and too many things swept under the rug. If you're looking for a place that will allow you to grow and help children grow, this is not the place! It's really sad because the mission kids who don't have parents up to bat for them, really need teachers who support them! It's hard to do your job when it feels like administration is trying to make you fail! Stay away!

Despite the school’s reputation in the surrounding communities as a “rough place” and having “rough students” there are some really good students. Many have potential to be successful in any area they pursue. I speak only what I know about the High School.That said, frankly the superintendent's office is dropping the ball. They are more concerned about finding gate workers for ball games than addressing issues at the school. Like most small town and rural area schools it is run more like a kingdom on Game of Thrones than an organization dedicated to education and improving quality of life for its students.Teachers try to do what they can in the classroom. Many burn out. There is a high turnover rate and that won’t improve as long as the administration ignores concerns from the teachers and councilor. When the standard response to a concern is a shoulder shrug followed by the phrase “this is Oaks” then there will be no improvement. Parents and citizens should demand better from the administration and school board. If there is to be a school then sweeping problems under rugs is not a path forward.
