Honestly, I would not recommend this school to any parent, if you can choose not to send your kid here. It is packed, with teachers and programs overwhelmed. It is dangerous, and fighting and arrests are constant. Very cliquey, with not much racial integration. I do not think children are pushed to grow here, and are left out to fend for themselves. I do not know many alumni from here to go on and be able to have highly successful careers. Please avoid yourself the unfortunate reality of this school.

The playground is insane and downright unsafe. There have been issues every year. They had many safety issues and the chose to leave 70 some kids being "watched" by two teachers that believed that they are on a break and chatting. There are entire areas out of the sight to those casually sitting on the bench that a child can be hurt, the bullys know this. Only this year when I freaked out was a change made. It's been going on for some 6 years, that I am aware of.I truly wonder in those years, how many kids were hurt on that playground.

They put kids in trouble for petty things, such as lightly pulling on a backpack, as I have witnessed. Two kids lightly leaning on each other before class started was deemed as horse playing, which makes no sense, as class hadn't started and wouldn't for about 2 minutes. They get on kids for saying words like hell, then some of the teachers say worse. In all, Gifford Middle School is built on hypocrisy, and should be reformed.
