Description

William Preston, a leader of westward expansion and a prominent Southwestern Virginia Revolutionary War patriot came to settle at the eastern continental divide and established Smithfield as his home. In a land of log cabins and physical hardship, Smithfield, in its sophisticated elegance, became the political and social center of Fincastle County, Virginia (1772). Of course, the newly-formed County included all of Southwest Virginia and all of what is now the Commonwealth of Kentucky, a rather large area indeed. Completed in 1774, Smithfield became not only the county's political and social center, it was a beacon, a destination, for thousands of settlers moving west to seek new land and opportunity. This is your opportunity to reside in one of the original buildings on the Smithfield Plantation completed in 1850 in unquestionably one the most convenient locations in Blacksburg. This one bed, one bath home with all of the modern amenities you'd expect is ready for a new resident.

"Farmers market is very nice and pleasant. Buses are good, yep good transport good food and variety of restaurants "
  • Riverhouse60
"Plenty of room between homes .dogs are fenced in big areas. I do not like the hunting and random gun shooting because I fear for my dogs safety should they get out. I have never caught anyone hunts on our property."
  • Kristen S.
"There are a lot of aggressive dogs with owners who don’t know how to properly handle them as well as owners who let their dogs out alone in the middle of the night. Other than that, fine! A lot of dogs near me are friendly with my own. "
  • Cowebb
"There are lots of young families mixed with older families and some college students. Our kids play in the neighborhood."
  • Dpribbe
"I've lived here for almost two years. it's close to shopping, restaurants, buses, highway, Virginia Tech, and downtown. "
  • Chbburg
"This is a private neighborhood with private roads so parents have to drop off and pick up their children for the school buses at the entrance to the neighborhood."
  • Chbburg
"I’ve lived in this neighborhood for over 20 years. It is a quiet, friendly neighborhood with a fabulous listserv that keeps everyone informed. The HOA board is an all volunteer group and simply amazing. The best part is you feel like you’re in the wilds of the Blue Ridge Mountains while only a short 3 mile drive to the VT campus or shopping."
  • Andrea C.
"It’s a very dog friendly neighborhood. Big field for them to run around in next to a few trails in a wooded area "
  • Ravinder G.
"This is a beautiful Neighbour hood. Needs a better gym and indoor pool. wherever I go to the gym it's often full to it's capacity. It feels quite run down and uninspiring. Please get us a new gym!"
  • Elihearl
"There is Easy access to 460 and to the heart of Blacksburg but away from the noise of downtown. It is close to Kroger and dining. "
  • Sandrinejanowsky

  • Poetafilklorico56
"the bad neighbors. the drug dealers and the prostitution, the children grow in this ambient and no respect the elders, its a shame. Bless"
  • Cowebb
"We have neighborhood get togethers. The kids play outside. And, we can walk to school and the grocery store."
  • Its a. r.
