I advise parents to steer clear of this school and the theater department in this school. I regret enrolling my daughter in Prosper High School.I/she/we unknowingly made the mistake of allowing her to take theatre classes and she has gone from a consistent straight A student to barely passing. Theatre has become her ONLY focus and there is no encouragement to do well in core classes. The students are pulled out of core classes for performances during the school day which puts them behind. The students seem to "hang out" in the theater area before, during and after school sometime practicing but most of the time gossiping about each other. The theater department now has more influence over my daughter then I do and it appears that theater is prioritized over core classes. It is as if she has been brainwashed because she truly thinks of them as her family now. I know that my daughter is not reaching her full potential at this school. I am also concerned that when I try to monitor my daughter grades in skyward it is difficult to tell if she did not turn in the assignment or if the teachers just did not grade the homework, so I never really know what her grades are until the end of each 9 weeks. In the last year, after they rezoned for the new school, my daughter has started mentioning more fighting at the school where the police had to get involved. She speaks more frequently about students getting into drugs and vaping in the school. She told me about teachers that have been rude and borderline inappropriate towards her. Finally, she has also had to deal with the pretentious students there.Very disappointing.

Our children came into the school at the end of 2020, my kids were welcomed and made friends fairly quick. On top of them feeling welcomed my oldest who has an IEP has excelled and is doing better than I imagined. Very thankful for the staff and school for being one of the best in Prosper!
