The school does not know how to engage with students with disabilities. When our child started kinder we told them from the beginning that signs of adhd was there. They failed to listen. His kinder teacher did not know how to engage with him and because of that his anxiety grew and habits began. His first grade teacher in better words told us he lacked basic skills and refused to listen to us during meetings he would fidget so much in her presence. We found out later from counseling that she was verbally abusive towards him. We reached out many times to let them know and nothing was ever done. It wasn't until second grade his teacher had him tested and he was diagnosed. With that being said In her own words I don't have time with his moments. It was easier for her to not deal with anything then to correct behavior. I would like to point out this is a school problem this was not at home issue. The action were caused by anxiety at school and not being cared for the right way at the school. If you have any child who is spectrum, ADHD or OCD I would not go here. This school is catered to their Gate program. They strive to be the perfect school as far as test scores and attendance go. I can't tell you how many parents I have talked to that have pointed out the toll on kids mental health at Edison. Like one of the parents who posted. This school is perfect for smart kids. That's the mentality you are dealing with here.
