Ohatchee Elementary is the BEST public education you can get. Caring administrators, teachers, lunch room staff, parapros, extras support staff (such as our librarian, nurse, reading coach, reading interventionist), buses drivers, and the best substitutes teachers in the state of Alabama work here. The reviews previously written were written in ‘10 and ‘14, and were written well within the first year they attended the school. Ohatchee is a small town, but give it a chance and the town/ community/ school will adopt you. You will be what I would’ve done apart of it. Ohatchee folks are “tight-nit”, stay here long enough and you’ll appreciate it. Tornados, deaths of youths and parents, houses burned to ground, tragic events that occur in your life become part of the communities focus. This cliquish town engulfs you in love and compassion. Give it a chance! You will be blessed!

"transportation by car is probably required. no sidewalk for bike riding or walking. it's kind of out in the country, but close to school & "town". Not a busy street, a little traffic during school hours "

"Good place to raise a family. Country living with access to river, hunting . But not too far from town. Fifteen minute drive to Anniston, Gadsden. Twenty minutes to Oxford. Schools are good."

"The town of Ohatchee is mainly unique because of The Janey Furnaces. They frequently have blue grass events and heritage events at The Janey Furnaces. It’s an extremely small town, where we only have one traffics light and the grocery store in this area is local and family owned. "
