They teach in unconventional and hands-on ways which allows children to expand their thought process and learn through doing. The teachers are engaging and know their subject matter. All teachers are required to have a masters degree within 3 years of beginning teaching. The special education department is phenomenal. The teachers care about the kids and nurture them to grow and develop. If you are basing your move to Newark on test scores, don't. As with most school districts, almost 50% of parents opted their kids out of taking the standardized tests, which in turn skewed the results.Parent Review9y ago - Perkins Elementary School
