"Amazing place for dogs. We have two English mastiffs and they love walking the trails, running around our property, and greeting visitors. There is wildlife but nothing I worry about as far as the dogs are concerned."
  • Nick M.
"Close to public boat launch, lakes end marina and national Forest. "
  • Laura
"My husband and I built this house in 2001, and enjoyed being here so much, we moved here permanently in 2005. When you drive onto the mountain road that comes into our neighborhood, it's like your body breathes a sigh of relief. It's quiet, peaceful, the air is clean, the scenery breathtaking. There isn't a lot of traffic and what traffic there is, is slow-paced. This is a perfect place for walking, kayaking, fishing, boating, hiking, and rafting, and for just sitting on the porch with a good book. My husband works out of the house and has a long-range view of the lake and mountains from his desk. He travels some, and can fly out of Asheville, Knoxville, Charlotte, and Atlanta. There is a regional airport about 12 miles from the house, the Western Carolina Regional Airport, with a 5,500 ft. runway. There is shopping in Andrews, 12 miles from the house, and major stores, Walmart and Lowe's in the neighboring town of Murphy. There are restaurants and coffee shops in Andrews, with even more in Murphy. There are several colleges in the area: Tri County Community College, Young Harris College, and Western Carolina University. "

"We work and live here. Nantahala Lake is a pristinely clean mountain lake. It's very quiet and peaceful, though only 20 minutes rom town. We're close to areas for rafting, boating ( we're right on the lake), hiking (Appalachian Trail,)and craft schools (John C. Campbell Folk School.)You an be as secluded as you want or as involved in area events as you like. We can walk on the surrounding mountain roads with our dog, with him off the lesh, as there's not too much traffic, and.. life is slower paced here, so we don't have cars speeding through the neighborhood. When you enter the road to our neighborhood, it's like your body breathes a sigh of relief, and your blood pressure lowers. I work out of the house, with full high speed internet and a booster for cell phone service, in addition to my business line. When I'm at work, I'm sitting at my desk, looking at a beautiful view of the lake and surrounding mountains. This is an absolutely beautiful and peaceful place in which to live."
