Davis High is a great school with great teachers. My son is a senior and has had a great experience. Competition is pretty high as the town (Davis) is a small community with a very large University of California campus, and thus is filled with parents who have advanced degrees and very high academic standards. I suspect academically weaker students will feel this, but on the other hand academically talented students will have the opportunity to excel. If your child is not academically strong (or at least average) they may be best served by other alternatives in Davis (Da Vinci High), a private school, or in nearby high schools.

I enjoy this school as a parent, the teachers and school environment are inviting and seemlingly caring. The school keeps bulling at a minimum and has a good handle on students behavior in class and outside. There are a good selection of classes and activities to choose from as well as assistance when needed. The campus is clean and decorated with much of the students art. My kids enjoy there time here at Emerson Junior High.

My son started kindergarten at Patwin and is just finishing sixth grade. We are so happy we made the choice to send him to this incredible neighborhood school. His experiences have prepared him well for junior high. Patwin is a school that fosters learning, both educational and social. The academics are strong but there is an important emphasis on community building and character values. My son has thrived on all fronts and created strong friendships that I imagine he will take with him beyond k-12. Patwin not only has great teachers, staff and an outstanding principal, but the parent community is extremely strong.
