"15 minute drive at most to anywhere in Chico. Drivers are more laidback. However, traffic is at its highest around noon to 6. So you can expect 10 minutes extra in commute."
  • Larm1
"My sister has lived here since college. She is now 60. I’ve spent a fair bit of time in chico. It has grown by leaps and bounds - but maintained that small town feel"
  • Larm1
"People say hi and know each other’s name. The schools are good - from preschool to university. The businesses like to hire locals. "
  • Angie.slover
"Chico is located in a wonderfully central area. There is affordable housing and lots of community events. Still has the old-school small town feel. "
  • Mike H
"This area is great there is numerous a I I ties and waterways to be Abel to enjoy. The homeless use it for a bathroom and the city does little to curb the activity. This area used to be great but it hampered by crime and homelessness."
  • Trulia User
"It’s very peaceful a lot of the time! Sometimes there will be fireworks around holidays and weirdos speeding, but other than that, it’s nice"
  • Trulia User
"Area is very pet friendly. Lots of people walking their dogs but not too much foot traffic. Night walks not suggested because of low visibility and some high vehicle traffic by main roads"
  • Trulia User
"farmers market, riding bikes, concerts in the park. music is played in the middle of town during the summee"
  • Trulia User
"The people are amazing the community makes living there great. it feels like home. you don't have to lock your doors"
  • Trulia User
"Lots of people walk their dogs, very few pick up after them and most couldn’t care less about leash laws. It is quite unfortunate considering Chico is home to so many parks."
  • Pennymac0
"great mix of young families, retirees and large percentage of medical professionals. Neighbors tend to look out for each other."
  • Frankiekyahsilas
"Small town with big city feel. This city reminds me of my hometown. Most people are friendly. The food is amazing. "
  • Joann.bettencourt
"Block parties, pot lucks, tight knit community. Cul de sac where kids can run and play while parents socialize."

"chico used to be great its kinda fallen apart though, but you can find locations that are really nice and you don't need to worry but there's also locations that are terrible and you don't want to live there "
  • Cynthia M. P. .
"its a great neighborhood. lately its been dangerous but that is throughout all of chico so no biggie. "
  • Amy M.
"We have witnessed some shady activity due to the nearby social services office building bringing a lot of poverty stricken people into the neighborhood and we have seen drug deals while driving around the neighborhood too. "
  • Priscilla A.
"Love this area. It’s nice and quiet. I feel safe to let my kids run around outside. Very nice that the freeway is just none the street. "
  • Yes M.
"Cars drive quickly through the neighborhood. So kids need to watch out. The neighborhood feels like the 50’s in how close ours neighbors our. There is a sense of community that it very hard to find. You could leave your front door unlocked and most likely no one would try to get in. It feels safe"
  • Paloma M.
"Very safe, I lived here and didn’t lock my door ever ! (Probably not something I should do but I did!) family friendly and college frequently. It’s very quiet and getting to see all the puppies here is so fun! "
