Currently I am a student at UCSC and I graduated from Los Padres. My experience was good at the time but now I realize that I was not prepared for what was ahead, such as studying at a university level. I would like to inform the parents that our (yes I include myself) lack of success is due to the lack of resources. What I mean by this is that the lack of funding for education is hurting the students, but what hurts the most is that no one takes the initiative to fundraise for the schools. In my opinion the more activities a school provides the better because that will keep them involved and out of trouble. I think that in order for these children not to form part of the statistic of drop outs is to provide them with a rich education that leaves with them that day of promotion. I am tired of hearing others blame schools and teachers when the community can come together and fun for the student's learning. If anyone is interested in this issue I am talking about then check out the video on youtube titled "First to Worst" it has seven parts to it. Trust me watching it will change your life I say it because it happened to me. Fortunately there is hope.

My daughter attends Salinas High. Most of the teachers are great educators. The staff is very responsive to parents concerns and the sports offered include extras like diving, mountain biking and golfing. The student population is not as diverse as I would like, but there is a decent mix of students from different social backgrounds. I have not given the school a 5/5 because of a previous year problem with a staff member that raised concerns over equity. Also, more recently I heard about a teacher having a conversation with a student that crosses professional boundaries. This is third party information that I did not witness. Overall, the teacher experiences my daughter has had have been great over the past 2 and a half years.

Honestly, I would not take your kids here. They really don’t teach you anything. Some of the teachers are so rude. And I hate how they stress the kids out. With promotion. Because they leave big assignments. At the end of the year. And don’t even give you refunds. If you buy. Stuff for your child. At the end of the year. For the activities. But they could be an eligible. Just because of their grades. Even though sometimes. Children. Don’t understand the lectures. And are too afraid to ask for help. So that doesn’t seem fair to me. And how the system is handled. And. I have gotten my. Stuff stolen. Here. And they didn’t do anything about it. Even though it wasn’t my fault. Because it was in the locker rooms. And they don’t pay attention.
