If your child is on the autism spectrum, be cautious before enrolling him/her at McBay Elementary. It is no mystery that McBay is an underperforming school. My grandson was diagnosed at age three, after three full days of strenuous testing at The Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin. Upon enrolling him at McBay, we were informed that he would be further tested by a para-professional (not a neurophychologist or doctor) who traveled between several different school districts. After testing was completed, we were informed that my grandson was not, in fact, autistic. Therefore, he would not receive any assistance or modifications pertaining to autism. How many parents would disregard a diagnosis from the esteemed Dell Medical Center for the opinion of a nameless para-professional? I visited with the assistant superintendent and the special education coordinator. They sent me, directly, to observe my grandson's classroom. The school, however, refused to let me observe. It is extremely disturbing that the school refused even after a directive by the assistant superintendent. I spoke to the school board and asked each and every member which diagnosis they would believe, if it were their child. No one answered. Needless to say, we pulled my grandson out of McBay. After consulting with an attorney, we decided that my grandson would be educated elsewhere rather than risking his education while fighting the school.

Mexia Jr. High School has disappointed me and my family since the early 1980's when we had trouble with bullying and had to go to court to get a child removed from this school for bullying my daughter. The same for the early 1990's when my 2 younger children went there and after being bullied and staff not doing anything but embarrase my child for being bullied we pulled them out when Landmark Christian School was here. Now a few years later my grandson going to the same Jr. high and being bullied over and over and now we are fighting to get him out of that school because he has been hit,slapped across the face, pushed and finally he hit back before the holidays and got 3 days of suspension and 3 days ISS. Went back to school and on Monday the 14th of January a kid had verbal discussions with my grandson and on Tues. January 15th this kid pushed my grandson against the wall and he turned and hit this kid so now he has 3 day suspension and 3 day ISS just for defending himself. We have gone to teachers, principals and now superintendant with NO help at all. I will get lawyers, I will get FOX News involved in this. I don't trust schools that have to have police officers on campus!

I would not recommend this school or any school in the Mexia ISD to ANYONE! I The staff and faculty are oblivious to the real problems in the schools and refuse to do anything to take care of them, they are rude and careless. This is the worst school system I have ever dealt with. This school district does not even deserve any stars at all!
